Event Information

Every year at the end of the summer, as the start of our best surfing season descends upon us, the Quiksilver Pro France Hossegor takes place. The biggest surfing event on Europe’s surfing calendar along with the Rip Curl Pro Portugal that happens just afterwards.

Hossegor is busy during the summer and as August comes to an end and the holiday makers make there way home, the town goes back to normal, the waves are a little less crowded and locals put there feet up after two months of hard graft.

Just as we start to relax, suddenly the flights into Biarritz airport are full again, our transfer vans are maxed out from Biarritz and Bordeaux airports and the local train stations, taking excited supporters and apprehensive pro’s to Hossegor.

The beaches are once again heaving, the night life buzzing and cash registers of the surf shops are ringing.

It’s time for the Quiksilver Pro Hossegor!

See the Pro’s in action!

People travel to Hossegor from all over the world to get involved with this awesome event and maybe get the chance to meet surfing legends such as Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson.

Surf spots

The surf spots around Hossegor have some of the worlds best beach breaks, which is why the ASP world tour has been coming here for more than 10 years.

The most commonly surfed break during the competition is La Graviere. La Graviere is maybe the best beach break in Europe. It produces hollow and fast tubes. A lot of French pros head straight here when it works. Beware though, plenty of boards are broken here!

If the surf is too big for La Graviere, then Miky Picon the contest director will likely decide to move the competition to La Nord. La Nord is a wave further offshore than Graviere and it works on a really big swell.

If the waves are too small, then the contest is likely to move a little further up the beach to the beaches of Seignosse where waves can often be bigger.

Nightlife

The nightlife gets wild, the bars and clubs around Hossegor Centrale and Place des Landais become packed with locals, tourists, pro’s and contest workers.

There are events on every night, such as RedBull skate and motocross shows, live music and DJ’s. To us it’s the best event of the year in Hossegor and each year gets bigger and better than ever.

If you can’t make it then you can watch and rewatch all the events live on quiksilverlive.com

Other things to do in Hossegor

Hossegor is on the doorstep to loads of cool stuff. If the contest is off for a few days due to lack of waves, or perhaps it has finished early, then why not take the chance to explore this amazing part of the world.

San Sebastian would be a good option. Famous for it’s tapas, beaches and night life. There is such a a good atmosphere in this Spanish Basque town, very friendly. There are also some good waves to be had at Playa de la Zurriola. Hossegor to San Sebastian takes around 1h30mins in one of our minibuses.

Biarritz is a must if you are in the area. It’s like a little Paris by the sea – very bourgeois and stylish, with amazing restaurants and bars. Perfect for a day out shopping and eating. Biarritz is only 45 minutes from Hossegor.

If you fancy heading up into to the Pyrenees then you will find perfect places to hike and rivers to swim in. A good place to start would be St Jean Pied de Port. Hossegor to St Jean Pied de Port takes around 1h30mins in one of our transfers.
