The best surf spots near Seignosse
Casernes
Best experienced at mid-tide in a northwesterly swell, Les Casernes is an exposed beach break that can produce world-class waves if the sandbanks are good. Although not as consistent in some spots, it has rideable waves all year round and is super quiet during the winter months when the nearby campsite is closed.
Le Penon
Producing surfable waves all year round, Le Penon is a great beach break that is best experienced when there is a light easterly wind combined with a westerly swell. Producing both lefts and rights, there are often nice longboarder’s waves in summer.
Les Bourdaines
One of the most iconic sports in Seignosse, Les Bourdaines offers outstanding waves. Producing lefts and rights along the full length of the beach, this spot is at its best with a westerly swell and an easterly wind. The constantly changing sandbanks make predicting the peak difficult, however, the southern end is usually calmer, with the northern end being hollower.
Les Estagnots
The most famous surf spots in the area, Les Estagnots is a beach break that produces excellent waves at any time of the year. Working best in an easterly off-shore wind with a westerly swell direction, this surf spot can get extremely crowded. It’s also often used for the Quiksilver Pro France event as part of the WSL pro tour and sees some of the top surfers in the world compete.

When is the best time to surf in Seignosse
Great for surfing holiday all year round, Seignosse is best between April and September.
With waves at their most powerful, surfing holidays in November to April are great for intermediates to experts who are looking for challenging waves. Producing hollow, barrel waves, Seignosse can produce world-class waves but surfers should be aware of the powerful rip tides.
Between May and June, and July and August, beginners will find conditions are perfect for being introduced to surfing. With more mellow waves, surf spots are less intimidating and surf schools are very busy.
Enthusiastic surfers will want to visit Seignosse during September and October. During this period, the time comes alive with surfers from around the world visiting the WSL Quik Pro France.
